Inter-Island Surf Shop is an amazing shop with the most vibrant colorful beautiful long boards! Barry, the owner, will tell you everything about each board, the history behind them and how each board is made. They are very high quality... "Couture" boards, for sure! They also carry a local line of clothing, which is beautiful, but they were sold out of smalls!! I'll be going back for a board and a small shirt!

  This place is easily the best surf shop on the islands, Gary the owner, saw me walking on the street and got me to come in and talked of what the shop really was about and was insanely nice though out the entire time I was In there and to top it off gave my brother and I stickers to give to our friends as gifts for free, this is the nicest surf shop I've seen in a long time and even if you don't surf it's worth it to stop by and say hi to Gary.

  The chicest Surf Shop in Town. The shop is impeccably designed ! Beautiful finishes and ultra cool ambiance. The Surfboards are more like works of Art!...but I sure would love to have one to ride.
They also carry Tahiti Sweetie Hawaii Tops and Dresses that are to die for. So Hawaiian and Tahitian at the same time. Perfect for only the coolest Surfer Girls!

  We were trying to peer in through the papered windows when the owner Barry came out and invited us in and I'm sure glad he did. He has some absolutely beautiful boards in there. It was like museum. Barry took the time to give us the whole backstory on the boards. Super high quality in this small mostly longboard shop. I saw several sleds in there that I would love to ride.
Barry told us he would be open most days from 11-5. Swing by and check out this great shop.

  Barry is an amazing guy! I got me a cute hat and my sister got some awesome hats as well. Mike got some shirts to take home. It was nice to reminisce about old times with Barry. Thanks Barry! This is a cute surf shop in Kapahulu with great service!

  If you know what you are looking for this is the best place to go near or around Waikiki. Barry is not only helpful but extremely knowledgeable. Will keep coming back

  Easily the best on-phone and in-person experience I've had. Very knowledgeable and very personable. Barry is the man. . Im not at a point in surfing where I want the nice stuff but Ill definitely drop by for some wax at least!

  I've ridden many longboards over my 35 years of surfing and still, my Inter-Island Surf Shop boards are the best by far. In fact, my favorite board of all time, short or long, is a "Sparky" shaped IISS board I purchased new back in 1991. Ridden and enjoyed hundreds of times and although aged a lot, it's still gorgeous on the eyes, and absolutely magical to ride! My other IISS boards are also ridden regularly with pure joy. All IISS boards are shaped by well known classic shapers. Barry grew up in Hawaii surfing 1960s to present. He knows boards, he knows history, he's got an artist's eye with boards, and he's an excellent surfer with clean style in the surf!

If you like genuine quality surf, classic style, artistry and beautiful boards that ride like magic, this is the shop for you. Looking forward to the next IISS board I add to my collection!

  One of the best shop experiences out there. Not a huge selection, just birdwell and inter-island merch (all you need). Just a sick place to come and talk story Barry and Danny are two rad uncles they share lots of advice and are super kind. Definitely a place to check out.

  Awesome local surf shop with a large variety of quality Birdwell boars shorts. The owner, Barry, is a an excellent guy and was super helpful, nice, and knowledgeable. Definitely worth a stop if you're looking for shorts, shirts, board wax, leashes, surfboards, and anything else of the like! You absolutely cannot go wrong.

  Inter-Island Surf shop is the second longest running surf shop on the Islands and is the quintessential board shop offering traditional longboards for the south shore community. Tourists can find cool and "hip" apparel as well as Birdwell board shorts. The shop continues to keep alive Sparky's (former shaper and proprietor) legacy as well as other local favorites. The shop is frequented by some of the local regulars to "talk story" and is a welcome hangout for surfers and visitors alike. Pop in and see history.
